Adel Quasquicentennial 1847-1972

The citizens of Adel wrote a story of our the city’s history for its 125th anniversary celebration - better known as Adel’s Quasuicentennial. The book contains many wonderful stories and pictures about the city’s past. This book was likely written on a typewriter. One wonders if the authors ever imagined their book would end up scanned on a historical website that future generations could access on their computers or phones!

Click on each section below to read an excerpt from this book that Adel volunteers thoughtfully wrote for its current and future citizens. The commission thanks Chad Daughterty for giving us a copy of the book to scan for the website. Due to the large file size, these documents will load better on a computer as opposed to a mobile device.
